Watching this after seeing The Fall Guy Movie. I was obsessed with the TV Show as a kid and the movie was great too! But it's also reinvigorated my love for the original show!
Lee Majors about #1 hits in Germany: "They don't know much about music." As a German 80s kid I kind of share this statement. When I see what "international" music goes up to #1 or even stays in the top 10 for a while I'm just like "wtf is that". When I google the bands or singers and where they come from I often see that they are not likely successful in their home country (or not yet). For me personally those kind of 80s series music themes (Fall Guy, Hardcastle&McCormick, Dukes of Hazzard or even themes without singing) would still dominate the top 10 way beyond from Taylor Swift, Jason Darulo, Dua Lipa and other annoying artificial music.
1:33 If you understand the lyrics, its not the Original hehe ;-) And nobody told the poor Lee Majors, that his comments will be worldwide on the DVDs.... - The Reason why some American-Songs can be a No. 1 hit is, that we dont listen to the words, but for the Music.....
That was great, this show made me get into movies, become a bouncer, bodyguard, and eventually do some light acting but more stunts and S f/x work. Couldn’t have done it without “The Fall Guy from the early ‘80s. I had no idea that was an actual job until that show came out. I was 6 when the Fall Guy came out. I always loved the show and this song. It’s always resonated through my life and I love this version you and your guys made. Much love.
The new 2024 version for the movie is stripped of all the sexual innuendo and actor/actress names. Totally PC'd it ! Listening to the lyrics, i'm surprised they got away with it in 1981. Basically they are implying that all these real life actresses sleep with their stuntmen ! 😀
(Verse 1) I’m not the kind to kiss and tell, But I’ve been seen with Tesla. I’ve driven stunts for Bond as well, Escape scenes? A real pressure. (Chorus) ‘Cause I’m the unknown stuntman, Makes Eastwood look so fine. (Verse 2) I’ve jumped from roofs in Dubai’s heat, Dodged drones in city chases. On Instagram my feats compete, With likes on all my faces. (Chorus) ‘Cause I’m the unknown stuntman, That Redford wishes he could be. (Bridge) I might leap from the tallest buildings, Or ski the wildest snow, Race my bike through fire and smoke, Just for that action show. (Verse 3) I’ve rocked the Marvel universe, Stood in for heroes’ flights. Through screens, my legacy traverses, In rapid pixel lights. (Chorus) But I’m the unknown stuntman, That's me up there in the CGI. (Tag) And when the day wraps, I'm the last to go, Even though my name, they hardly know. But stunts are my game, and I'm here for the thrill, I'm the unsung hero, living for the skill. credit to Lee Majors and The Fall Guy as the inspiration for the derivative work!
I live my Cerebral Palsy life with this playing. Any chance I can get a clean copy, CD or open reel, 1/2 or 1/4 track. 7 1/2 IPS will do. Let me know if you can do it. This song is my life story!!
Lee Majors guesses that Germans don’t know much about music, and what can I say: I am German and he is absolutely right! I mean fucking David Hasselhoff was not the worst number one in Germany. We’ve got Schnappi the Little Crocodile singing Schni Schna Schnappi earning triple platinum 🙈
the first time I heard Lee Majors sing was "Sweet Jamie", on the Six Million Dollar Man. That man could act and sing. His voice is country and him singing The Fall Guy theme is perfect! ❤️
Ive heard this many times 40years ago every Friday night. But today it made me sad/ happy understanding its true message of memorial day and the fallen ones, so other angels can have the quality of life. The fallens are the sacrificial lambs
The German-dubbed version of "The Fall Guy" is far more entertaining than the original broadcast - so the success of the main theme was just a sign of the success of the show.
Even if you speak a language perfectly as a foreigner you do not really translate a song when you hear it. So in this case the rhythm was good and Lee´s voice sounded nice, so that´s why it probably became a hit elsewhere. Other than that I believe that people thought about the show itself in sunny California with good looking actors when listening to the song. So whenever people were listening to the song on a rainy day in Germany they were taken away to Cali in their thoughts and that just made them feel better.
Nice song 🫶🏽

People love this song here in Pakistan as well.
I wonder how Eastwood and Redford must of thought of this song

This show was very popular in Germany, I remember watching it as a kid and that catchy theme song.
Cool story, remember this from way back. And here’s my favorite.
It's not like the in the movie soundtrack
“End up in Hay….hay hay” while sitting on straw bales single handily confusing America 🇺🇸 the difference between the two!
I’m just finding this in 2024, 15 years after it came out. Glad I got to see, hope those guys in the band are doing okay, very talented. ❤
Wonderful...!!!..a big hello from Colombia...so many fans here.
Hermosa voz
